The Hostess with the Mostest

I am in panic mode, I am hosting my first family get together in a week and have finally decided on a menu. The passing of the family get together baton is always especially hard because as the daughter-in-law, I want to show that I have mad Martha Stewart skills in the kitchen and decorating the house.
While my decorations will probably come from a combo of Target & Michaels and be nowhere near Martha…my meal will rival what she puts on her table.
My menu includes pork tenderloin, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, grilled asparagus and finally lemon squares for dessert.
So if you are scrambling and looking for something to serve, here are a few recipes to enjoy for your spring holiday.
Mom’s Pork Tenderloin
Pork Tenderloin
1 bottle of your favorite Italian dressing
dried marjoram
Montreal steak seasoning
  1. Marinate several hours in Italian dressing. I usually marinate overnight.
  2. Preheat oven at 350.
  3. Sprinkle pork tenderloin with dried marjoram and Montreal steak seasoning.
  4. Bake for one hour or until meat thermometer measures 160 to 165 degrees.
Green Beans with Turkey Bacon
1 lb. fresh green beans
1 package turkey bacon
2 Tbls. of extra virgin olive oil
1 clove of crushed garlic
  1. Snap the fresh beans and put into a seperate bowl.
  2. Brown the turkey bacon and set aside.
  3. Put the olive oil in a frying pan, add 1 clove of crushed garlic, and once the garlic is a bit browned add the green beans.
  4. Cook the green beans to desired crispness and then add crumbled bacon.
Enjoy the time with your friends and family — and hopefully warmer weather too!

Like your simple, “Target” philosophy, keeping the cost down and focusing on the gathering of family and friends, rather than stressing about perfection. I am always looking for easy AND delicious holiday meals and this one looks like a winner.
