Birthday Week

This week holds a special place in my heart. It is the first time I became a mom and also the second time I became a mom. My children were born 3 years and 5 days apart. So we dubbed this week, birthday week.
On each child’s birthday, the “birthday fairy” comes and fills their room with big balloons and then they get to eat a special birthday breakfast. We usually open presents at breakfast so Daddy can join in the fun before work too, then we have a special dinner out at their choosing.
Since our two children were born in the same week, we usually try to plan a fun outing as a family as well. This year for our daughter’s 5th birthday (yes, I am tearing up as a I write this), we are doing a few days at Kalahari.
Here’s one of the special birthday breakfasts we make. But you don’t have to save it for only birthday mornings.
Birthday Cake Pancakes
Ingredients:
1 Box of Favorite Cake Mix
3 tbs Sprinkles
Butter for griddle
3 tbs of powder sugar
A bit of milk
Directions:
  1. Mix cake mix according to directions. Add in sprinkles to batter.
  2. Ladle the cake mix on to a buttered griddle.
  3. Flip once bubbles form on top, and cook until done, an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Mix powdered sugar & milk until it makes a glaze and put on top.
What are some special things you do in your house to celebrate birthdays?
