Low Cost Flu Shots and Free Vaccines

Yes, the nasty flu virus is making its way around. It can be life-threatening, especially for children. Here are some ways to help protect yourself:

  • Get the flu shot every year.
  • Avoid contact with sick people whenever possible.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Cough or sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water after coughing, sneezing or touching common surfaces like door knobs, keyboards and telephones. You can also use an alcohol-based hand cleaner.

Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) offers flu shots for just $16.

You can pre-register at www.oakgov.com/health and pay online with Visa, MasterCard, Medicare, and Medicaid. You may also select to pay cash at the time of your appointment. Checks or money orders are not accepted through our online system. Walk-in clients are also welcome. Walk-in payment options include Medicare, Medicaid, and cash. Credit cards, checks or money orders are not accepted.

If you know a parent without health insurance or struggling to pay for immunizations, please share this information with them.

OCHD is a VFC (Vaccines for Children) provider and provides free vaccines for children, birth through 18 years of age, who are:

  • On Medicaid,
  • Eligible for Medicaid,
  • Uninsured or Under-insured,
  • Do not have health insurance that pays for vaccines, or
  • Are American Indian or Alaskan Native.

For adults who cannot afford the $16 fee, we are able to offer vaccines at low or no cost based on income.

OCHD offices are located at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 34 East, Pontiac, and 27725 Greenfield Road, Southfield. Hours are noon – 8 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
